“Entrepreneurship is not just about building a business. It’s about embracing and building your life. It’s about making mistakes, facing your fears, love and loss. It’s about stepping out into the unknown and having faith in yourself. It’s about forward movement and thinking, even when the outlook is foggy. That’s why I say, my name is Alicia Morga and I’m an entrepreneur.”

The Stanford University Board of Trustees has elected Hispanic-Net 2006 Corporate Executive of the Year and Hispanic-Net advisory board member Miriam Rivera as their latest member to the board.
Last week, Rivera received the 2008 Jerry I. Porras Latino Leadership Award from the Hispanic Business Students Association of the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
It’s been announced and covered by several news services that Carlos Slim of Mexico now has the top spot as the world’s richest person. He tops the list at an estimated $67.8B, ending 13 years of Bill Gates on the leader board. This is the first time in my lifetime that a Hispanic has achieved this honor. In researching the story, I’ve noticed more titles talk about Bill Gates losing the title, rather than Carlos achieving the milestone. There is no better indication of how far we’ve come than having a Hispanic exemplify wealth creation at the highest recognizable global level. It gives us all something to shoot for.
