This reception resulted from ongoing efforts and contact with State Controller Chiang’s office. Several smaller informal meetings with Chiang and his staff preceded this event. Momentum built from these earlier meetings as new solution options for current challenges facing California evolved and more formal relationship became appeared viable.
The unique solutions from Hispanic Net’s input stems from the blend of experiences within the Latino community, the high levels of train and education by the organization’s members and the experience in running companies as senior executives, professionals, educators, entrepreneurs and business owners.
The reception was organized to provide a two-way dialogue between State Controller Chiang and Hispanic Net. Each attendee had the opportunity to provide personal background and identify several problems facing California as well as possible solutions. Chiang and his staff responded to and engaged each member on these issues. A general discussion among all present about specific take-aways from the meeting next steps for making Hispanic Net resources available to the State of California on the aforementioned challenges.
Such meetings as with State Controller Chiang are part of the success in Hispanic Net’s efforts to broaden access and increase awareness with State and Federal officials and officeholders.
